Kathrin Deventer comes to Plovdiv for a conference of the Bulgarian Festivals Association
On October 25, 2013 Plovdiv will host the annual International conference of the Bulgarian Festivals Association. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the House of Culture “Boris Hristov”, at 15 Gladston St.
The theme of the conference will be “How Festivals?” which is a continuation of last year’s conference, which took place under the slogan “Why Festivals?”
Among the main topics to be discussed will be:
- The role of the festivals in the development of Bulgarian culture and international cultural exchange
- The development of Bulgarian festivals – a partnership between municipalities, the state and independent cultural organizations
- Bulgarian festivals on the international cultural scene
Kathrin Deventer, the General Secretary of the European Festival Association, will take part in the conference and also Anders Rykkja – the General Manager of the Norwegian festival association will be a special guest of the event.
The conference will be also attended by the Chairman of the Committee on Culture and Media at the National Assembly – Stefan Danailov, as well as by other committee members, experts , festival managers and representatives of various municipalities in Bulgaria.
The annual International conference of the Bulgarian Association of Festivals is organized in partnership with the Culture and Media Committee at the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria. Co-organizers of the event are the Municipality of Plovdiv and Open Art Foundation. The conference is supported by the America for Bulgaria Foundation.
The participation in the conference is free. Advance registration is required, available at here (link to the registration page) till 10 p.m. on 21 October 2013 . After this date, participants can also register on-site, on the day of the event.
