First premiers and tours of Varna Opera House in 2014
A record-breaking number of people watch the opera productions of TMPC Varna in 2013
In an interview, Daniela Dimova, director of the Theater and Music Production Centre Varna, told BNT that the total number of their spectators in 2013 skyrocketed by the record-breaking 71 % in comparison with 2012.
The cultural centre managed to attract wide audience with its solid production and with its participation in the IMF (International Music Festival) and ITF (International Theater Festival) “Varna Summer” as well as with the successive editions of the Easter and Christmas Music Festival, A Love Night at the Opera and Opera in the Summer Theater of the VarnaOpera House.
A quick calculation shows that in 2013 the productions of Varna Opera House were enjoyed by 15 209 people more than during the year before that.
The following 2013 new opera productions aroused particular interest:
“Falstaff” by Verdi, conducted by Stefano Segedoni (Italy), directed by Giulio Csaba (Italy);
“La Traviata” by Verdi, conducted by Borislav Ivanov, director and artist Kuzman Popov;
- “The Flying Dutchman ” by Wagner, conductor Svetoslav Borisov;
- “Jesus Christ Superstar” by A.L. Webber – a rock opera in a concert performance, conductor Yuli Damyanov;
- “Super Star Gala” at the Opera in the Summer Theatre, conductor Yuli Damyanov, director Svetozar Donev;
- “Jekyll” – a musical, featuring children and adolescents from Varna Opera.
Also the Varna Opera House won the prestigious award Crystal Lyre 2014 of UBMD – the audience award for Super Star Gala in the Summer Theater.
First Premiers in 2014
In March the Opera House will stage the children’s musical “Alice in Wonderland” by Al. Iossifov, director Srebrina Sokolova, and in April we’ll see the stage version of “Jesus Christ Superstar”, orchestra conductor Yuli Damyanov, directed by Svetozar Donev.
First Tours in 2014
On April 26th Varna Opera House’s symphony orchestra, choir and ballet company will be the guest artists on the biggest Bulgarian stage in the National Palace of Culture. with “Carmen” by G. Bizet, conductor Svetoslav Borisov, director and production artist Kuzman Popov.
The great tenor, Ivan Momirov, who was born in Varna, will arrive especially for the performance.Together with him, in the lead roles will perform Agunda Kulaeva from the New Opera (Novaya Opera) and the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, as well as Ventseslas Atanasov and Irina Yordakesku from Romania.
