Premiere of the Opera Werther in Sofia

After a number of amazing guest performances in Japan and Russia, Sofia Opera and Ballet members return on Bulgarian stage with a premiere – the opera “Werther” by Jules Massenet.

In December, Sofia National Opera and Ballet will stage four performances of the opera “Werther” by Jules Massenet. The dates are as follows:

Friday, December 7th, 2012, 7 p.m.
Saturday, December 8th , 7 p.m.
Sunday, December 9th, 4 p.m.
Tuesday, December 11, 7 p.m.

This brand new production of Sofia Opera and Ballet is a project with the participation of “Theatre de la Monnaie”, Brussels, “Raina Kabaivanska” Fund, NBU and Institut Francais.

The opera is directed by Gy Joosten’s (Belgium) and will be conducted by Giuseppe Sabbatini (Italy).

Set design – Johannes Liaker (Belgium), costumes Georges Zhara (Chile), lights – Davin Cunningam (Scotland).

The leading roles in “Werther” will be performed by a number of talented young artists, four of whom graduates from the NBU Master Class of the legendary Bulgarian opera singer Raina Kabaivanska.
