Sofia opera and ballet: Eugene Onegin Premiere

Sofia Opera and ballet start 2013 promisingly with a premiere of the opera Eugene Onegin by Tchaikovsky.

The performance is set by the Romanian director Ion Karamitru. The orchestra of Sofia Opera and Ballet will perform under the baton of the famous Bulgarian conductor Grigor Palikarov.

The opera lasts three hours and a half, and will have two intermissions. As the director himself puts it the poetry of Pushkin itself bring music, and therefore he chose to work on the opera “Eugene Onegin” using the cinematic principle, this of the darkening and  retrotrospection.
